Jo Nesbø on Five Books

I was just recommended Five Books (thanks, Robin!), a website on which “…an eminent writer, thinker, commentator, politician, academic chooses five books on their specialist subject” each day. There are a number of really interesting lists, but one in particular which was pointed out to me was Jo Nesbø’s list of top five Norwegian crime novels.

It’s a diverse list–both nonfiction and fiction titles from different decades–although I  believe that some of the selections are only available in Norwegian. (I’d also contest Nesbø’s choice of Karin Fossum novels–I think Don’t Look Back! is much better than When the Devil Holds the Candle…but either way, I’m glad to see her on the list.)

At any rate, it’s an interesting site, and the selections are presented in a way where you get a lot of interview-style answers from Nesbø as he explains each book. Check it out here:
