Best Translated Book Award Ceremony, Wednesday (3/10)

On Wednesday night, Idlewild Books (a real gem of a bookstore, I should add–the first time I went in I came out with a stack of wonderful books that the staff had personally recommended) is hosting the Best Translated Book Award Ceremony. There are a lot of reasons to attend–the great list of nominees, the discount if you buy the books that night, the general pleasure of being surrounded by people who also have an interest in reading books from other places and languages–so I highly encourage you to attend if you can. It should be a good time.

For the record, I’m voting for The Discoverer by Jan Kjærstad. Close second choice, however, would be The Twin by Gerbrand Bakker.
